why was i under the impression that orthodox jews, like orthodox christians,
could not participate in such things as rpgs?

for the germans. Lets me explain that. The first letter of Kabbalah is a
Kuf. As this has basically the same sound as a Kaf, linguists decided to
transliterate the Kaf as a K and the Kuf as a Q. This has led to people
stating up and down (usually non-Hebrew speaking people) that the word is
pronounced with the Q making a Qua sound rather than a Ka sound. Loooooong
fight between those who use and live the language and those who just use it
to describe their occult tradition.
