I dunno.  I'm not sure that I would have made that call.  I'd have
probably tossed it under a Self check, actually, or, if Violence, only 1
or 2.  But that's me.

Something I've done is had the players tell me when they felt that a
stress check is in order, especially for Helplessness and Self checks
(and Isolation, to a lesser extent).  These stresses are more internal
and harder for a GM to see.  So I try my best to see these, but then I
also have players call checks on themselves.  Of course, my players are
honest and are perfectly willing to accept that sort of responsibility. 
YMMV.

Hey, insanity is another roleplaying opportunity.  Let them squirm.

Of course, I'm a sadistic GM.  LOL
