Most online papers are free, but several make you register
before you can read them. They then use the information
they give you for their own nefarious purposes.
A good place to start looking (not knowing what country
you're from) would be
http://dir.yahoo.com/News_and_Media/Newspapers/ - there's a
US bias to it, but under the regional section, there is a
whole world of news.
I mainly keep track of the Guardian
(http://www.guardian.co.uk) but that's cos I'm a British
liberal :-). A good place for UA-able resources is
http://www.ananova.com/news/index.html?keywords=Quirkies&menu=news.quirkies (apologies for the long URL - you might have
to cut and paste).
