Did you read Matt Norwood's UA explanation of Mulholland
Drive posted on 2 Nov 2001?  That was truly a work of art.

I read some interpretations of the movie and learned to
appreciate it a bit when I read the idea of hallucinations
and wish fulfilment.

Then I read Matt's post and just went "woah."  There was no
reason to dismiss anything as a mere hallucination.  The
whole movie was real, and Matt's explanation made sense.  I
was truly astounded.

The fact that a relatively unknown director like Peter Jackson can convince Hollywood to fund a mega-trilogy like Lord of the Rings is proof that Peter Jackson either slept with someone influential, or that someone important in Hollywood actually measured a director by talent rather than name recognition.  The former is more plausible.
