[UA] An interesting idea, sadly not mine

While reading an old gaming magazine (Australian Realms*) I came across
something that might be useful.

It was an article written by a Maryanne Payne, while the material was aimed
at "Mage", its central concept could easily be adapted to UA.

Entitled, "If Pain Persists...", it dealt with a loose, secret,
organization, consisting of a select group of people who have but two things
in common:

1. A desire to understand the physical source of magic.

2. A desire to cut people up & experiment on them, in search of the above.

The article aslo describes how members of the organization keep in touch
through underground journals ("Mental Man", "The International Bio Energy
Journal"), while others publish books which are looked for as eagerly as
bodies for experimentation.

The article concludes with a description of a branch of the organization,
which operates out of an old mental hospital, and the consequences of their
experiments on the surrounding area (time warps, walking dead).

I have already thought of a couple of adventure ideas:

Alex Abel, would be very interested in obtaining the results of such
experiments, or even one of the experimenters.

PCs might have to rescue a friend from such researchers, or prevent them
from cutting up a chaos mage.

Hope this is useful.

Graham
