Interestingly, she seems to have been vastly more important
in the gnostic gospels which were repressed in the 2nd
century. Mary Magdalene was of greater importance than the
apostles (who represented the existing church hierarchy).
One wonders how our cultural archetypes of
madonna/mother/whore/etc would be different if the gnostics
had survived in the early church.
IMUAC the players will have a ritual taken from the
Magdalene Grimoire, an ancient gnostic text (actually a
fictional occult text from The Sandman). Exact effects of
the ritual are still in question (and suggestions would be
helpful).
