Links nicely to the Roger Zelazny story of a man who is paid to hunt feral
cars, car-wars style, and ends up facing the final pack, finding out that
its leader is his ex hunting car, which went wild. There's this interesting
bit of tension when his ex-car (female personality) tries to convince the
car he's in (apparently male) to gas the driver and then lead the herd out,
using his body as a decoy to pretend they'd been broken. Luckily when he
commissioned his new car, the driver made it into the car-equivalent of a
misanthrope, so that it had no herd instinct. The Angel of Death, his new
car, might not have been as nice to him as his red, girl sports model, but
it understood that if it wanted to keep killing other cars, it needed its
driver intact.
