Bear in mind that the Australian dollar is worth between 50 and 53 US cents
at the moment. So that $90 means about $45-$50 US.

Having done the international postage thing both ways with the US - it all
works out about the same. Even if you got a better price for the book, the
cost for currency conversions / bank fees would eat the difference, and
you'd be waiting weeks for the book to arrive.

I've worked in game retail here in Australia a few years ago, and I still
have contact with local game retailers. And yeah, prices are steep - but the
store owners aren't making big profits When you factor in the lousy exchange
rate and shipping costs, the retailers here make the same margin as US
retailers.

Does it suck? Yes. Is there a way around it? Not until the dollar climbs up
again, and that doesn't look likely at the moment.

(Of course, I can afford to be complacent, since I haven't paid cash for
gaming stuff for almost 2 years now...)
