Why not just tell the guy to play his murderous software magnate somewhere else? I've noticed a tendancy in many games I've played for a GM to let themselves be bullied by one player who isn't having fun. If he isn't having fun, tell him to leave and replace him with someone who will. There are always more gamers, and if there aren't there's no rule saying you can't play smaller games.
Me and my best bud mike in high school used to run single player games. We'd make two matched characters who worked as a team and swap running games where our character would become back-up and the player would become the main guy. We had metric assloads of fun. If one guy insists on being a jerk, you don't need him, why keep him around?
