the sherrif's office pretty much runs the show around there.  Taxes are low 
and speed traps where the limit drops from 45 to 15 around a bend supply 
much funds.

The sherrif also tells locals he catches in misdemeanors to do some 
community service or write essays about what they did because he wants to 
protect his people from the criminal justice system.
