In my games, it was always called "oh one" or "double
aught." The acronyms are fun, but we never used them.

"I rolled an 11 to search the computer."
"A Great Old One rises up and eats you."
"Son of a bitch! Not again!"

Heh.

That's something that needs to be conveyed to the players.
I said this story before, but I'll repeat it. One of my
players had read through the book already. So he knew the
actual rules (better than me, in fact, since I don't care
too much for memorization of rules).

Well, one thing led to another in a game, and one character
shot at the player's character's leg to keep him immobile.
He rolled an 11. The player saw this and, knowing the
rules, said, "Oh, that's just 11 points of damage. I keep
on running."

I had to cut that short by telling him that A) 11 points of
damage is still pretty damned painful, B) the intention was
to wound and not to kill, and C) a matched success is
always better than a regular success. So, his character
was crippled.

So, have your players roll secretly around each other if
they find a reason to blow each other away.

=====
"Well, you take the freshly shaved rat, and you marinade it in a puddle for a while."
"Hmm, for how long?"
"Until it's drowned. Then you stretch it out under a hot light bulb, then you get within dashing distance of the latrine, and then you scoff it right down."
"So that's sauteing, and fricasseeing?"
"Exactly the same, just a slightly bigger rat."
