Reading Powers always gets my UA inspirations flowing, especially _Last
Call_. I’m re-reading it even now, in fact, and this passage struck me as
particularly UA appropriate:

“...and what he thought about more than anything else was what it had been
like to live in only one body, to experience what only one person could
live; and he tried to imagine being vitally connected to the eternal and
terribly potent figures that secretly animated and drove humanity, the
figures that the psychologist Carl Jung had called archetypes and that
primitive peoples, in fear, had called gods.”

_Last Call_ has it all; furious action *and* occult weirdness. It’s also
responsible for so many people being stuck on the True King avatar, I think.
