I would be VERY surprised to see any sort of official apology, particularly
one made on a regular basis. Every indication I've ever seen is that the US
government maintains that our bombing were perfectly legal and necessary.
The crew of the Enola Gay remain official heroes. Indeed, there was an
enormous outcry when the Smithsonian tried to put on an exhibit that
suggested that incinerating hundred of thousands of civilians was perhaps a
little naughty.
