Actually no.  Many catchphrases in America come from the pop culture and 
quickly burn themselves out.  A couple years ago "is that your final 
answer?" enjoyed some popularity.  Now it has faded from public view and 
only gets used once in a while.  Everyone is likewise burnt out on "whazzup" 
and most poeple I know use "what up" again.  Rhymes seem to be big, but not 
like Cockney (as it was explained to me, I know no cockney) where a word is 
replaced with a rhyming word, but couplets are used.  For example "I'm 
starving like Marvin" or "just chillin' like a villain."

ObUA: Just saw my paycheck for this week. $333.03  Creepy.  On the same day 
I claimed to be Il Comte too.
