To answer the first question is very difficult.

Yes, the cover may have played a role in that hesitation (I still don't
like it, but I suppose it's personnal taste ;-)

The price was not too high, so that was not the problem.

I think there are two main reasons :
- There were other games that were interesting me more than UA, so I bought
them first, and afterwards, it was very difficult to find the game in the
game shops where I dwell ;-) I live in Belgium, and the local shops tend
to focus on french games and on very popular games in english like D&D
and the like... Anyway, I finally found it in a shop where I don't go so
often... They just had the basic book and the TNI sourcebook, so I had
to order the others.
- The second reason was that I had little information on what the game
was about... Even the back cover of the book is not quite explicit...

Why did I finally bought this game ?

Two reasons, again :
- First, I admit I was very impressed by the positive critics I found on
the net... People saying UA was the best rpg they ever read since CoC,
well... I had to check by myself ;-)
- Second, when I looked at the cover more closely, I recognized the names
of John Tynes (which reminded me of the excellent Deltagreen stuff) and
of Greg Stolze (sorry to admit it, but I didn't remembered at that time what
you had done before, but I knew I had something from you in my collection
and I was convinced it was good... Now, I know it's City of Lies).

Anyway, I obviously don't regret my choice to buy (although quite late)
this wonderful game...

I hope this mail will help you to understand the basic motivations of
a regular game collector ;-)

I hope my english is not too difficult to read.
I still need some training...

Sherinford
