I seem to remember the whole vamires are descended from Caine from a bunch
of eighties vamire novels.

In the translation of Beowulf I read he was something like Caine's
great-grandkid. Of course Caine is the first child of Adam. And since Adam
was just sort of created without any knowledge of good/evil or any of that
crap and Caine was the first to be BORN that would make him Il Comte.
Factor in the whole immortal walking the earth bit and there's a hook of
some sort in there.
