The deluge destroyed all of Caine's progeny, both in
Genesis 6,7 and 8 and in the Septateuch (sp?).  Lilith
survived in some Jewish lore and some extra-cannonical
stuff to create nightmares and, sometimes, monsters. 
But the Caine being the father of all vampires stuff
is a bit of license on Rein-dot-Hagen's part.  It was
a clever way of reworking a myth (most of Vampire was
pretty clever, except the rules, which were basically
Shadowrun with d10s.  I kind of liked the
"Disciplines" part until people started saying I
couldn't mix and match unless I was one of them
clanless types.) 

PS. Is Grendel related to Caine?  I don't remember
that bit.
