I put down the phone. It's been about an hour since the first phone call.

For God's sakes, put down the keyboard and call the police. If someone has 
made a threat on someone and you do nothing about it, you can get accessory 
charges against you. Get the authorities involved, pronto. You can also try 
for a court order for a stay in a psychiatric clinic.
