Sounds like Phoenix, Arizona. I've heard that cities
like Houston, Texas have similar problems. Doesn't
make for very livable cities, in my opinion. But then
again, here in Portland, Oregon, we have a urban
planning committee called Metro whose set an 'Urban
Growth Boundary', artifically increasing some housing
costs. It pisses off developers to no end, but at
least I can get from one end of Portland to the other
on the freeway in about, oh, a half hour?

I never read the urbanomancers bit in PoMoMa in
detail, but maybe cities of similar development can be
linked somehow, with a kind of uber-Urbanomancer
ruling over the whole lot of them. That way, the
Australian cities and the cities of the American
southwest would be linked, or cities like urban
disaster zones like Calcutta and Mexico City (or Sau
Paulo, Brazil (sp?)) are linked. Having just read
"Dark Cities Underground," where the subway systems of
the world are linked (go from New York, to Moscow, to
London, etc...). Maybe you could have a similar
situation with cities. Say, walk into an open field in
Phoenix and end up in a brush field in Melbourne?

Or you could develop a hierarchy of Archetypes with
UA. We've discussed only the human Archetypes, which
when they hit 333, start the world, from a human
perspective, over. But maybe there are also city
Archetypes: urban decay, urban sprawl, urban renewal.
Enviromental archetypes: desert, marsh, etc. Etc.
