I'd say this guy fits much better as an adept than as an avatar.  Adepts are the ones who are unique, transgressive and strange.  Avatars are the ones who are "so normal they're weird."  (Or, alternately, weird because they're acting the way that would have been normal five hundred or five thousand years ago.)
