I got an idea for a forced interaction system which
might be peachy for UA, although I'm using it for
something else right now.
In a lot of LARPs, you have to rely on your own (in my
case limited) social interaction skills to get
information and stuff from other players. This can
really suck if you're in a game where, for instance,
"Shy" is considered an excellent
character-point-producing flaw for beginning
characters (grrrr!) making it even harder for anyone
to interact with one another.
How about, if in this one, you used rules that
artificially established foci for improv scenes?
Thus:
A Scene is a short dialogue or pantomime between any
number of players. All scenes have Lead players who
decide what the scene will focus on. The focus can be
any object, persona or issue in the game (or presumed
to be in the game.)
Players use some sort of stat or ability to make
themselves lead players and force others into scenes
with them. In the rules set I'm developing, these
stats or abilities are called "Charms." Charms only
work under certain conditions, tho'. Like, a Charm
might only work if you're holding a gun or you're
alone with someone of the appropriate sexual
orientation or you have something to sell.
Scenes end when the lead player says they do or when
players use some sort of power or stop-hit stat to get
out of them. Regardless, everyone involved in a Scene
is required to give one clue or hint, at least, before
the Scene ends. At the end of the Scene, everyone in
it can take short time out.
There's a few other rules and complications I had in
mind to make things work more like, ahemahem, IMPROV
(that accursed blight on the stalwart, extremely hep
nd wise reigns of gamedom) but I'll wait until I post
the rules and then anyone who wants to look can.
It'll be in about a week or two and it'll be FREE FREE
FREE! Hahahahaha!
