I think it all depends on the kind of campaign you want to run. It might be fun 
to have a campaign about a bunch of chronic losers. But I think that the 
"default" UA tone is one that links failure with ambition: characters should be 
free to succeed in all the ways that the rest of us do (buying a house, getting 
married, getting a nice job), but if they reject all of that in favor of cutting 
out their eyeballs and assassinating cults leaders and playing Russian Roulette 
and sacrificing their neighbors to demons for a bid at ascension as a living 
god... well, then they may well get what's coming to them.
