I have spent a lot of time making a rough plan for the campaign determining
mainly what kind of gmcs I have what they do and what they know
then I spent some time figuring out how to draw the players into it
and well now I only had two sessions.
Both times I needed a lot of time to put together a soundtrack
but the actual preparation time was quite short in both cases.
I have enough 'stuff' to fall back on and what I am doing but never planned:
I am doing kind of between sessions mails for some of the players to
give them some unique 'action' which is working well ..... very well
indeed.
I have certain key events for my campaign and for each session that
I want to let happen and I usually strive to have my PCs witness those
events but if they don't .... but I do not even decide on the details
of the events sometimes beforehand .... I try to collect ideas and
my main problem is to remember and use all the ideas ....
It turns out that my 'framework' which I spent much time on allows
me to fit in nearly everything that comes up during the sessions. I
invent some GMC and later I find out that he must have been the one
that I made up before because it just fit ....
I change my campaign constantly because of the new material that turns
up during the sessions. They never know what I planned and how much
I invented on the fly.
