Yeah, no kidding. I think there must be some guys like Prince Leonard
who live on the sidewalk around the corner from my apartment... each of
them probably has _his_ own sovereign nation, too.
The TOSG has become more and more appealing to me as a UA device. They
seem to play a key role in defining the world that J&G have created: the
role of the mystical paradigm left behind. As players are awakened from
their mundane existence, they may be unlucky enough to meet the TOSG and
have all the conspiracies, all the mystical correspondences, revealed to
them. They may never recover from their enlightenment to find the
stranger and more mundane truth to it all.
I strongly advocate making Randy Douglas's insanity lurk VERY deeply
below the surface. It's far too easy to discredit the group in the
players' eyes when they come to the conclusion, "Oh, it's just a bunch
of fanatics led by some crazy guy." The key is not that TOSG is insane
-- it's that they're _wrong_.
