that's always been my problem with most "alien" races as they're presented
in rpgs (and telly for that matter, just look at star trek). they're all
just some earth culture. or a mixture of a couple of earth cultures. with
some funny names stuck in. all dwarves are miners. eh? why? are all humans
farmers? of course not. so why do these other races seem to always be pigeon
holed to a steretype? perhaps because if they were as diverse as human,s it
would become apparent they just *were* humans, albeit with hairy feet or big
ears. and then the odd game comes along and markets itself as "innovative"
because in its setting all dwarves are sailors. or something.

hmm, i'm starting to think that maybe i shouldn't send posts to the list
while drunk...

anyway, my point is, one of the reasons i like UA's humanocenticism is that
so many other games try to have nonhumans in them but fail dismally. viva la
hombre!
