Yes, horror requires you to build up tension in the group and in my last
group where I tried it I had this pathetic freak who would chuck in Seinfeld
quotes whenever the players started to get into it and go "Hrrrm, OK, time
to be a bit solemn here."

I agree you need players who are willing to let someone else be the centre
of attention - specifically the GM.
