I had a freaky idea the other day, while taking my
evening constitution. All schools of magick begin
with an Avatar, and end with an Avatar. The
Ascension of a human being calls attention to some
aspect of reality, and oftentimes a loophole can
be perceived (created because the 333 aren't yet
complete, and reality occasionally frays around
certain aspects, in anticipation of future
ascensions). Certain people can exploit this
loophole, and rend it open a little bigger. The
problem with this activity is, of course, once the
hole is big enough, someone Ascends and closes off
the loophole. The school of magick falls into
disuse and disfavor. Some avatars can keep their
loopholes open, but that makes it easier to
replace them. The replacement tends not to be so
kind to adepts. This way, you can see how Adepts
and Avatars have a love-hate relationship of
mutual dependence.
