I tend to think that once the person's in the IC, they have everything human about them that's not part of the archetype stored away in a magical mystical IC coatroom, to be picked up when they're replaced.  So once in there, they're no longer Amelia Earhart or Vlad Tepes or whoever, they're just The Flying Woman and The Tyrant or whatever.  So they can't act against the archetype, or undermine its meaning.  

Some shifting could occur when a godwalker ascends, but not terribly much.  Certainly not enough to reverse an archetype, though moving it from one ethical pole tot he other is possible.

But that's just what I think, which is undoubtedly going to be proven wrong by the next supplement or two.
