That was Tycho Brahe, who is best known for trying to make a compromise between the terrocentric and heliocentric models, where everything revolved around the sun, but the sun revolved around the earth (or maybe it was everything revolved around the earth, which revolved around the sun... I forget)
ObUA: I'm certain there were UA-able bits in Tycho's biography which I'm forgetting (likely involving how all early astronomy was closely linked with astrology). ah well.
What about an archetype of the Stargazer? Modern avatars are divided between two camps, the astrologers and the astronomers, both of whom look for meaning in the heavens, but different types of meaning. More general reach of the archetype is intellectuals more interested in airy ideas than concrete reality, etc.
