the set-up with the Diogenes Club is a good one for campaigns, too. they
give the characters a mission, but leave it to them to decide how to handle
it.

did you have genevieve in it? i've got some official stats for her
somewhere. well, WFRP stats. but i'm sure they could be converted somehow...

a lot of those occult groups like the golden dawn seem quite similar to the
cabals and avatars of modern day UA. they all claimed to reach back to "the
ancient mysteries of Lemuria" and so on but tended to be a load of mumbo
jumbo some civil servant had made up after reading one too many books on
egyptology.

red reign's also in "seven stars", a kim newman short story collection.
that's got another story set in his vampire alternate history world, set in
70s new york. shaft and travis bickle as vampire hunters.
thinking about it, if i was going to run a campaign based off a book kim
newman's vamp-world ones would be it (if i was going to run one based on a
comic it'd be 2000AD's "canon fodder", but that's something else entirely).
