Well, yeah, I have to agree with that.  I kind of
think of Werewolves and Frankenstein's monster as
Victorian, too (even though Werewolves really belong
to the Renaissance and Frankenstein's monster ambles
out of the Romantic period.)  The modern vampire,
though, is certainly a creature of gaslight and
Science with an exclamation point.  

It's the hammer films thing that does it, though, when
Stu did that little vignette casting Peter Cushing in
a kind of EARLY EDITION meets FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE
DESTROYED, I got all tingly.  Now I can't get this
image of a special display at Madame Tussaud's, one
which changes every week depicting a new disaster
which some Reality Cops (see?  I got a workable UA
reference in there!) or a Circle of Friends feel
compelled to confront and avert.
