There's also the "performace enhancing drugs" which is what I saw alchemy as
dealing with. Steroids, EPO, and the like. I've known people who actually
used THC as a performance enhancing drug in very low dosages (they were
target shooters, and were trained to aim and fire between heartbeats to
avoid the slight twitch that accompanies every beat. Anything that slows
the heartbeat improves your aim). There's also blood doping and other
things I'm sure the list can help you with in the arena of performance
enhancing.
Pretty much all of these give you an edge but can cause serious harm later
on.
