Do what you want in your game, but by so-far-non-canon response would be "Yeah, that's feasible."  I know there are some holes in my current idea that "Avatar = do, Adept = be" structure, but if I get them plugged... yeah, there's no reason that someone couldn't (in theory) Ascend as an archetype towards which she felt neutral or, indeed, which repelled her.

Of course, in theory someone who is utterly indifferent to politics and money could get elected president of the U.S.  In theory, this person could be a black woman from a poor background.  In theory, George Bush is a uniter and I could (in theory) be a rock star with a nine inch cock.  

But it's not gonna happen.  

Alex Abel would like to Ascend, but running TNI AND his normal businesses takes a good sixteen hours out of his day.  If the archetype role isn't one he can embody while doing that stuff, he doesn't have time for it (which means he hasn't made time for it -- something you don't want to necessarily say to his face).  He wants to have his cake and eat it too.  If he was willing to abandon TNI to its own devices (and what a fearsome prospect THAT is!) and let his business empire run out of steam, it becomes POSSIBLE for him to apply himself to the full time embodiment of an ideal's behaviors.  But even then, he STILL probably wouldn't get it done.

On a simpler level, an ethical and kindly human being could theoretically channel the Dark Stalker or the Executioner simply by swallowing hard, thinking of England (or, more likely, Adam Sandler) and doing his murders.  But if I was a GM you'd face an awful lot of hard Self checks if you start deliberately enacting a role for which you are unsuited.
