You haven't read Robert Rankin's "The Most Amazing Man Who Ever Lived", by any chance? There's an epidemic of Mad Car Disease, including a Jaws-like scene featuring a 1958 electric blue Cadillac Eldorado rising from the ocean in a sleepy British tourist resort. Okay, I didn't say it was a serious book, did I?
