I've got the seed of a Comte idea where he's got this one agent -- his best
agent, because she's a genuinely good, decent human being... and there are
some horrible things that can only be seen through to the end by the
genuinely good.  She doesn't know who's manipulating her, yadda yadda, but
at some point a friend of hers uncover's the Comte's involvement and
demands to know why he keeps sending this woman on these missions that are
only going to slowly snuff out any spark of happiness in her life.

The Comte turns and, with a thousand years of sadness in his eyes, says
"Because a pig that good you don't eat all at once."

Unfortunately, this only makes sense if you know the joke to which that
particular phrase is the punchline.

I didn't say it was the seed of a BRILLIANT idea.

If the reinstatement of capital punishment was clearly doing nothing to
reduce the number of murders in those states permitting it, it certainly
appeared to be cutting down on the number of confessions.
