Imperfect reproductions could each have a longer time to build new ones, so you have a different sort of curve in the geometric increase (perhaps eventually curving back and almost slowing down, if warped enough).
Also, each might have certain variations based on what parts it's made from. Bigger, slower ones from truck parts as opposed to smaller, faster ones built from expensive pocketwatches.
