I wear contact lenses, and if I stay awake long enough I start having
problmes. At first I just have to blink to refocus. Then I start having to
close my eyes and rub the lense back into position occasionly. Then I start
having to do it constantly. Usually by this time I go back to wearing
glasses again, but If i persist in wearing contact lenses I end up reaching
a point where I cant focus at all with them and I can see better by taking
them out (and my uncorrected vision is real bad - I can't focus clearly past
30 centimtres. (-4.75 diopters))
This loss of focusing ability make explain part of the visual hallucinations
sleep deprivation brings - I've never noticed seeing anything weird because
I always assumed it was a physical problem from being awake too long.
