I agree about Survivor, but Fight Club's author, Chuck
Palahniuk, has a cool novel out called Invisible
Monsters. I don't know whether it was written before
or after fight club, but it has a lot more to do with
perception, fashion and human interaction than other
books and is inherently UA-able. (A model is badly
injured and discovers that being incredibly ugly has a
power all its own, perhaps equivalent to being
increadibly beautiful.)
