I immediately saw parallels between Ford's rescuing the kid in an airplane and Han Solo's rescuing everyone when showing up during the Death Star assault in Star Wars (episode 4 that is).

Of course, there's also the Galaxy Quest sort of deal (also a plot to a Quantum Leap episode, IIRC) where someone assumes the actor can help them because they're known for playing characters who could.  (I'm trying to remember the action movie star that all my martial artist friends make fun of because he's a dancer and none of his moves would do any actual harm... Jean Claud Van Damme, I think)

Reading Rainbow's episode with the Satanic Verses would be very amusing.  (more confirmation that UA is like some horribly twisted children's show)
