I like the idea of one continuous history which keeps
popping its collective past into new shapes.  I would
go so far as to say that the Godhead reincarnates a
lot more often than people would suspect.  It isn't a
thousand-year cycle, it's much shorter.  Maybe once a
century or even more frequently.  That way you could
have remnants of the great Steampunk empire showing up
along with crashed 50s martians and space nazi
aerojags.  It would be kind of like a nice or
pre-meditated version of Realiy Quakes.
