Thank you's to Matt, Gareth, and Joe. Much, much appreciated, all.
Basically, I'd been reading through the two UA books I /do/ have
(Statosphere and LG$) when a concept occurred to me. I won't even pretend
it's not cribbed from this list.
The character needs a name. Something really american. Jake Burton.
Jack Slade. John Savage. Something pulp.
Anyway. The concept.
Raised in L.A. His parents were gaffers and foley artists. Grew up as an
assistant to a famous Stage Magician. The taste of celebrity left him with
a hunger for gambling and the acoutrements of wealth. As a teenager, he
started working as a stunt double. He fell onto hard times. Ended up
working as a getaway driver. One of the magician's old contacts hired him
for a long run of jobs, during which he learned the basics of
entropomancy. On his own, he struck out as a Grifter, working the short
con, and became an avatar of the Two Faced Man.
Picked up on the run, he works for The New Inquisition, but is still
dodging a string of debts and markers out. He just can't resist flashy
cars asking to be stolen, drag racing for high stakes, or gambling for any
stakes at all.
Body 60: Stunt Man (Gen'l Ath) 50, Stage Fighting 40 (Struggle)
Speed 60: Escape Artist (Dodge) 30, Getaway Driver 45, The Way of the Gun
15
Mind 35: Seen a Lot of Movies (Gen'l Education) 15, Counts Cards (Notice)
30, Hotwire 20
Soul 65: Short Con (Lie) 30, *Ent'mancy* 30, Avatar:2FM 20, Hustle (Charm)
15
Opinions? Is it kosher to fudge the basic stats like that to make them,
well, different?
