This is exactly why I'd think adolescents would have an easier time
becoming avatars than adults; one of their primary social concerns is
experimenting with roles and establishing an identity. (Or so Erik
Erikson would have us believe.)
Frequent experimentation would make it hard to progress very far, but I
think people actively _trying_ to project a specific image of themselves
would find it easy to start channeling the archetypes those images are
based upon.
What does this mean for game mechanics? I have no idea. Maybe skill
point costs could be halved up to 50% or so, then doubled after 70%.
Maybe this would be a good place to try out those "channeling multiple
archetypes" rules everyone was tossing around recently.
Finally, I think most of the "childhood" archetypes listed above
persist, perhaps in more complex forms, well into adulthood. Perhaps a
section on "kiddy" spins on some previously-published archetypes would
be good?
This sounds like an interesting idea, and a tres cool adventure anthology.
