Hm... well, one plausible demon would be a dead musician whose only
obsession is to play.  You could have some fun with the switch: The living
musician THINKS he's selling his soul to the devil, but really the spirit
would pay HIM for a chance for one more guitar solo...

The antagonists, then, become (1) the Cruel Ones, who probably only show up
at the climax to kill EVERYONE and/or (2) the Order of Saint Cecil, who've
gotten a  hot tip about some soul-selling and/or (3) a more clued-in cabal
who do the math demon + rock concert + Cruel Ones = death-o-rama = waking
tiger?
