The typographical tricks aren't too bad. I've learned that
the huge-ass backwards and upside-down footnotes aren't too
important. They seem to say stuff like, "You can find
other architecture examples in Blah, blah,...." for many
pages. I have glossed over those, so if there are any
important points, I may have missed them.
What I found the most interesting was the appendix where
the author saved his mother's letters that she wrote from
the insane asylum.
I agree that the descriptions of mathematics and
architecture can be quite wordy (and I'm a math major), but
they are worthy as well.
I have to say that you should pay attention to the chapter
on echoes. It leads up to something chilling. I shuddered
when I read about the "game of 'always.'" That shouldn't
be a spoiler.
Go pick it up. I did after reading this list (pretty much,
I buy and read and view anything the list tells me; the
list owner can make some money this way).
