I could see using Phillip Glass as music for things associated with the IC and avatars and such, and then working through the times Aphex Twin and he worked together into AT's angrier stuff, which would be the more street level stuff.

I tend always to lean to the lyrically appropriate (though sometimes giving sinister interpretations to harmless lyrics) but musically innappropriate, based on my previous music collection.

Anyway, there's a punk band called Me First and the Gimme Gimmes which does covers of broadway showtunes and 1970s easy listening, and I really want to use their cover of "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess as the theme music for the Sleepers, as the song repeatedly repeats "Hush little baby don' you cry" in a completely noncomforting manner. Other music by the same may or may not work as well, depending (Using some discussion from a while ago involving Oz, you could use their cover of "Somewhere over the Rainbow"...)
