[UA] Deja Vu -- the chapter 12 explanation

One explanation I've heard offered for instances of deja vu is simply this:
The sensation of familiarity is caused by a specific brain chemical.
(Nope, I don't know the name.) Sometimes, people produce too much of this
chemical, and it gets released at an inappropriate time. This triggers the
sensation of familiarity in an unfamiliar circumstance. Bingo: Deja vu.

Now, if you really, REALLY want to mess with your UAPCs, and you're a
sadist* how does this sound?

You give one of the characters recurring instances of deja vu. Sometimes
at significant plot moments, sometimes when he's just walking through the
store or getting asked for a match by a guy at the bus stop. Since the GM
is mentioning it, and since UA is a game of paranormal weirdness, the
player will (in all likelihood) assume this is some kind of paranormal
effect. S/he searches in vain for a paranormal explanation. In a perfect
world where everyone is equal, s/he gets hurt (preferably in the face) in
his/her increasingly desperate attempts to Find The Truth.

S/He goes to the hospital and gets x-rayed. The good news is, the
maxofacial plate isn't fractured. The bad news is, there seems to be some
kind of lump in his medulla oblongata...
