Oh man, I wish I'd read this before I posted!

I read along with the initial game design right until
what's-his-name got up to the Radiance. Then I
stopped reading until someone I now dislike intently
forced everyone in my old group to play that crappy
game.

***UNDERWROLD SPOLIERS TO FOLLOW PARAGRAPHS***

Sorry. More positively, I agree with some of the
other posts about Underworld I've seen. Underworld
got right everything that Changeling got wrong, but,
ironically, it got the same damn things wrong that
Changeling did.

Personally, having supported my gaming habit for over
15 years, lackluster and crappy art doesn't bug me
much. The adventure generator in the back didn't
impress me much because it makes the same mistake the
rest of the game does.

It sort of assumes that players will want to huddle in
the tunnels. It assumes that players will have a
bizarre kind of sympathy for the world above, rather
than a vague fear. I played through the first
adventure and the ending you're supposed to come up
with "leave the ghoul in the elevator eating her
inquisitive-about-sewer-dissapearances father to get
the press off your tail" left a bad taste in my mouth.

When we first found the locker full of human body
parts in our "home to be", half of our group said "All
right, free food!" Half of our group consisted of one
of those mole people, a monsteroid and a guy who was
based off of a Call-of-Cthulhu Deep One.
