In the Japanese comic and cartoon Ranma 1/2, there's a whole plot about martial arts ribbon dancing.  This reminded me of that.  There's also a martial arts contest for almost anything else you can think of.  And the Mystic Hermaphordite aspect is so bovious I won't bother detailing it.  Other than that, not a cartoon especially useful for UA.
