[UA] Dipsomancers of the World Rejoice! (Or, if you prefer, 'allo.)

Well, all...

I've just joined this list (after vigourously beating myself around the head and shoulders for not picking UA up months ago), and this seems to be an opportune way to make my entrance.

I trundled into work earlier this week only to be confronted by this article from Discovery (http://www.discovery.com/news/briefs/20000920/hi_reu_grog.html)

In brief, a team of UPenn archaeologists have used scrapings from funerary goblets found in Midas' tomb in the ancient city of Gordion to replicate the mix of " fermented grape juice with beer, honey mead, herbs and spices" that was the popular drink at the time...

Think about the dedicated team of dipsomancers that would go to all the trouble of :

a) getting their hands on that particular batch of grog (hey, it IS historically signifigant, in that this is the first time modern brewers have recreated a beverage using only chemical analysis.)

b) Getting their hands on those GOBLETS...

The related article makes it even better; they recreated the funerary feast from archaeological pan scrapings as well.

So there you have it. Another example of real life intruding on a perfectly good Occult Underground scenario.

Oh yes, by the way... hello.

                          Until later...
                                   .j.
