Cross on rings is banned for women, Greg. Too many women in the early
eighties tried them in competition and came away with double-fractures of
that bone whose name escapes me for the moment but runs along the front of
the shoulder to the arm. shoulder. Cross-snap-plummet.

The reason women are not allowed to do strength moves of the highest
difficulty is, simply, that too many of them, when pressed in late
competition, go for that extra few points of difficulty and go well past
what their bodies can endure. To be absolutely sexist about it, at the
highest level of competition, the gender dimorphism in our species is
sufficient that the style you suggest would cripple many of the female
competitors.
